Sphinx Bowls Club is one of the oldest flat green lawn bowls clubs in Coventry
It was founded in 1931 by John Siddeley, of Armstrong Siddeley car manufacturers, with the Sphinx mascot featured on the cars being adopted as the club logo.

A GAME FOR ALL AGES
Bowls has long been considered as a pastime for pensioners, but at Sphinx Bowls Club we believe that people of all ages can enjoy bowls.

The game of bowls is a sport steeped in history and can be traced back to the 13th century, with some famous names enjoying a game along the way. Sir Francis Drake we all know was a very keen bowler but other names such as W.G. Grace, Michael Fish, John Parrott and Ian Lavender could all be found on the green aiming for the jack.
MORE THAN JUST A PASTIME
All members at the Sphinx Bowls Club like to enjoy a nice, fun, relaxing game of bowls, but we also have a competitive streak.

We play Lawn Bowls competitivley in the Warwickshire League between April and October, and indoor Short Mat Bowls between October and March.
Sphinx Bowls Club offers a well maintained floodlit green of 6 rinks
This allows us to play outdoors for a good part of the year, between the months of April and October. The rest of the year, when the weather is against us we are equipped with indoor facilities, where we then play short mat bowls.

The Sphinx Bowls Club can happily boast that due to our ever growing number of members, that we now have men's, women's and mixed teams.
